These ibex together with the pomegranates to be found on the green "gate" which are also typical of the indigenous flora of the Holy Land, symbolize a new pure beginning of mutual love and a shared destiny. This is in keeping with the text of the Ketuba which states: "Gladden the beloved companions as You gladdened Your creature in the Garden of Eden from aforetime".
