Description

Friendship, Courage ... and the Storm of the Century! Shayna Gordon is new to America -- and everything feels upside down. Life on the Lower East Side is noisy, crowded, and confusing. Her parents and brothers work long hours, learning English makes her head spin, and she struggles to fit in at school. When Shayna discovers an elegant glove lying in the street, her attempt to return it pulls her into a world far beyond her neighborhood. What begins as one small act leads to unexpected adventures, new friendships, and lessons in courage, forgiveness, and doing what's right -- even when it's difficult. When a fierce storm strikes the city, Shayna's courage is put to the test. Meet Shayna Shayna Gordon is an eleven-year-old newcomer to New York. America is nothing like she imagined, and she misses her carefree life back in Kiev. Kind, thoughtful and brave, Shayna is determined to find her place in this strange new world.
