Description

After helping secure the Polish throne for Augustus of Saxony, Rabbi Bermann (Behrend) Lehmann of Halberstadt is appointed royal resident to the king. His position gives him remarkable influence at court, but it also places him in a dangerous world of political rivalry, resentment, and intrigue. Powerful noblemen, princes, and monarchs resent the prominent Jew in their midst and maliciously plot against him and his family. Based on the life of his own ancestor, Rabbi Meir (Marcus) Lehmann tells the dramatic true story of a Torah-faithful Jew navigating the perilous world of European royalty while remaining steadfast in his principles. Carefully researched and filled with suspense, The Royal Resident brings a fascinating chapter of Jewish history to life through the courage, faith, and extraordinary career of Behrend Lehmann.
